He will represent Alaska's values with enthusiasm and provide a new perspective while representing our District in Juneau.

We received messages from across the state, the lower 48 and yes, from friends in other countries offering their condolences for the loss in The District 27 Race and congratulations for a job well done. My friends and family know that we worked hard, ran the best race possible and left it all on the field with no regrets- with winning the one obvious exception.

Here is my Academy Awards Speech:

First, I'd like to thank my wife who loves me always and is a saint. I give my kids a shout out because they let me teach them once again that you never give up and always fight for the things that are important to you- Nietzsche was right! Last, I would like to give a big thanks from my heart to all those who donated and/or voted for me.

Did I miss anyone? Of course I did! I had the best group of people to work with that you could ask for: Roger Shaw- Campaign Chair and cook extraordinaire, Julie Garrigues- Campaign Treasurer, Felix Rivera- Number Cruncher/Strategist, Andrew Gildersleeve-Wordsmith (obviously absent for this piece), David Taylor- Graphic Designer, JoMarie Thomson-Web Design, Tom Begich- Political Consultant and Artist, the AK Dems and the Coordinated Campaign staff- best and most talented crew ever, Claire (Keep the Faith) Pywell- Videos and Lit Drops, Summit Day Media/ Bob Curtis-Johnson- Advertising, Sergio, Tim, Dale, and all Union Members who helped- Thanks for the support with signs and sign waving, and CK Consulting/ Carolyn Kinneen- for your exceptional composure, coordination of campaign efforts and guidance throughout the campaign process all while juggling chainsaws and wrestling alligators!

I would be remiss if I did not thank all of the volunteers and friends we made along this journey, the other fine candidates who didn't get elected, people who have been supportive, generous with their time/resources who shared the campaign values and goals, and the voters one more- but not last time!

Thanks to Great Alaska Schools for standing up for the future of our state & our children- there are too many representatives in Juneau who discount the constitutional mandate to provide an adequate education so your job is not done. That was a great segue to thank Labor Unions because they know that hard work doesn't end at 5:00 and loyalty/respect cannot be bought- they are earned. Thank you for all of your support-there are still big issues to be fought/decided and races to be won. And lastly, thanks again to the voters, the true reason for running; the reason for public service.
